The Inca Oracle project is designed to invite you into the sacred world of the Quechua-speaking Q’ero peoples of Peru, the living descendants of the Incas. The word “oracle” means “divine announcement,” or refers to the one who delivers the divine announcement. To the Q’ero, all parts of nature contain oracles. They believe that nature speaks to humanity about the celestial realms that represent the entirety of Creation. The Q’ero call this Creative Divinity Ruwual.
Because each part of the natural world and, by extension, every image that symbolizes it, connects back to Ruwual, it is possible to perceive a reflection of the Divine either intuitively or through an intermediary. In the Inca Oracle it is the spiritual Paqo (pronounced pah koh), or shaman-priest, who serves as the intermediary, or oracle, by communicating what every card has to say about the Divine aspects of our life.
To this end, the purpose of the Inca Oracle project is to support each reader to:
- Establish a deeper connection to sacred guidance;
- Meditate on self-reflection, self-discovery, and multidimensional healing within a safe environment;
- Empower the mind, body, and heart unity within ourselves and create a “Rainbow Bridge” to others nationally and internationally;
- Distinguish the Soul’s path from the ego’s;
- Develop the capacity to clairvoyantly “see” energy fields;
- Practice experiential inquiry that is native to the ancient, indigenous Andean peoples.
Since earliest times, the indigenous peoples of the Andes believed that the Creator divided the universe into Three Worlds, or pachas. The Hanaq Pacha (Upper World), as they understood it, consists of the highest vibrational energies of light, and of those beings who are capable of existence in this purest of dimensions. The Kay Pacha (Middle World) contains all of the animals, humans, minerals, plants, and geographic topography of our planet. The Ukhu Pacha (Lower World) houses the deceased and holds both heavier, denser energies of nature and also various other beings who are not as yet living in full ayni, or mutual harmony and reciprocity.
The Inca Oracle Divinatory Card Deck and Guidebook introduce the reader to twenty-eight mystical, nature-based teachings central to this Andean cosmovision. Four general categories with seven images each offer some of the most fundamental concepts. They are: Archetypal Deities; Shamanic Practices; Nature; and Animals.
The Archetypal Deities section presents the background, mythology, and healing attributes of seven of the major spiritual beings in the Andean pantheon whom the Quechua people invoke for help on a daily basis. Pacha Mama, the beloved Mother Earth, is one such deity. She gives and sustains life, holds her children within the wellspring of her body, and supplies their needs throughout eternity.
Shamanic Practices explains what the Paqo (shaman) believes and what he or she does within the Andean cosmovision of the Three Worlds. Pictured is the Despacho, the 3,000 year-old ceremony in which the Paqo honors the Spirits of the Mountains in the Upper World, and/or the Spirit of Mother Earth in the Middle World.
Nature is comprised of those tangible aspects of the Three Worlds that the Paqo uses as tools for his or her divinatory work. One of the most important of these is the healing stone, or khuya, which clears, transduces, harmonizes, transfers, transmits, heals, and aligns energy for the client.
Finally, the Animals section illustrates seven of the most important animals to not only the Paqo, but to all communities living in the Andes. Despite extreme, and often harsh conditions, these Animals, such as the Llama, provide the strength, labor, insight, food, sustenance, hope, curative powers, and connection to the Divine crucial to survival in the highest of altitudes.
Each chapter of the Inca Oracle Guidebook is based on stories and myths from the Andes, historical research, interviews, and the authors’ personal experiences with kuraq akulleq don Americo Yabar, highest level of ordained mystic and shaman-priest in the Andes. The unique chapter section, “Deepening the Connection” encourages both novices and seasoned intuitives alike to develop their own shamanic abilities while exploring, and hopefully incorporating, these ancient oracles into their lives.
